Sustainability in Campus Services
Supporting Georgia Tech’s sustainability goals through action in dining, housing, recreation, and student engagement.

Our Initiatives
1st
Campus Services’ buildings were the first on campus to offer composting services to our students.
98%
Our compost efforts, primarily in our Dining Halls, make up 98% of all composted materials leaving campus.
1st
Green Goodbyes is one of the first programs on campus to reuse items from student housing during move-out.
100%
The Stinger fleet recently acquired hybrid-electric buses and is planning on adding 100% electric buses soon.
Community Garden
Located near Paper and Clay and the Instructional Center, the Community Garden is a living classroom and growing space where students can volunteer, grow food, and learn sustainable gardening practices. Open to all Georgia Tech students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
For students who would like to volunteer at the Community Garden go to Students Organizing for Sustainability’s web page: https://sos.gtorg.gatech.edu
Kendeda Rooftop Garden
Located on the roof of the Kendra building, Georgia Tech’s living building. Student volunteers care for four growing beds where they grow food, cook items they grow, and learn sustainable practices.

Green Goodbyes Thrift Store
Each spring, Green Goodbyes helps students donate gently used items during move-out.

Items collected through the Green Goodbyes program are sorted and made available to students through our on-campus thrift store. The store provides an affordable, sustainable shopping option and supports a circular campus economy. Sustainable Events Guide(Coming FY26)
In collaboration with Student Engagement and Student Life, we’re developing a Sustainable Events Guide to help RSOs, SGA, and Fraternity & Sorority Life host events that align with Georgia Tech’s sustainability values. Stay tuned!
Sustainable Dining
We partner with dining providers to promote zero-waste practices, compost collection, and plant-forward meals. Look for reusable to-go options, local sourcing, and food recovery programs in Tech Dining locations. To learn more, go to https://dining.gatech.edu/sustainability.
Sustainability in Housing
Sustainability in Georgia Tech Housing is powered by student action. Our efforts focus on composting, reducing electricity and water use, and building a culture of conscious consumption in the residence halls. Compost bins are available in select communities, and students are encouraged to rethink daily habits—like turning off lights, taking shorter showers, and minimizing waste. Together, small changes add up to a big impact across campus living spaces.
